Os "deb-src" do Ubuntu estão habilitados, como dá para ver nas seguintes linhas:

Elimine a linha "deb-src" do Debian, pois ela só vai bagunçar seu sistema.

Só isso:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install apt-build (se vc ainda não instalou)

e depois é só usar os comandos que o Prof. David postou no tutorial que vc mesmo citou na abertura deste tópico.

Lembre-se que compilar demora.

blz pinduvoz!!
é, eu sei que compilar demora... ainda mais na minha maquininha surrada aqui :)
mas eu achei interessante pelo fato de querer aprender a compilar e dar de cara com esse achado!! (na minha modesta opinião)
obviamente o source do programa deve estar no repositório... se não estiver é só pelo método tradicional mesmo, certo?

Sim, os fontes (código-fonte) estão nos repositórios "deb-src".

Eu, particularmente, não vejo vantagem em compilar, pois a diferença de performance a favor dos programas compilados é muito pequena. Fico com os binários prontos, ou seja, sou mais Sabayon do que Gentoo (brincadeira, pois nunca usei nenhum dos dois).
