Estou com grande problema na instalação e configuração do vmware.
Após a compra da revista PC&CIA deste mes ao qual tem um belo tutorial sobre instalação do vmware.
Mesmo seguindo todos os passos corretamente chega em um momento que no script de configuração aparentemente ele da um erro de compilação. o erro é o seguinte ....

?

Eu não estou com nenhuma distro do Ubuntu por perto aqui pra fuçar e ver o que esse script perl faz (/usr/bin/vmware-config.pl). Podia dar uma fuçada nele e ver onde ele procura a inetd.conf... Lembro que o Ubuntu mudou o inetd lá, usando um mais ligeiro, talvez seja esse o por quê do VMWare não achar o tal arquivo...

Durante a instalação do Vmware, ele pede para informar ondes estão certos diretórios, e apresenta por default um caminho. O problema é que esses caminhos nem sempre são iguais para todas distribuições, ou seja, tem que conhecer muito bem sua distro para informar o caminho certo ao Vmware. Acho que consegui passar a idéia certo?

Se estiver mesmo querendo usar o Vmware, leia todas as perguntas e informações pedidas por ele na instalação prestando muita atenção, vai ser dificil entender tudo se você não possuir algum conhecimento no Inglês, e confirme os caminhos que ele informa como default em outro terminal aberto.

Também sugiro que você tente o VirtualBox. Ele é muito bom, totalmente free e em minha opinião, que também já usei o Vmware e agora tenho instalado o VirtualBox, não deve nada para o Vmwareworkstation o Vmwareserver.

Fica ai a sugestão, de uma olhada nesse artigo.

Em ambas as situações o VMware informou que "The module loads perfectly in the running kernel", ou seja, que o módulo foi compilado corretamente. Recebí as mesmas mensagens de erro que você recebeu, trata-se de uma imperfeição do compilador.

O erro do "xinetd" é auto-explicativo: você precisa instalá-lo, exatamente como está descrito no artigo, mais precisamente no primeiro parágrafo da página 15. Percebí que quando tentamos instalar o VMware com o apt-get o xinetd é removido. Não sei o por quê esta decisão foi tomada, mas este foi um dos motivos que nos levaram a optar pela instalação manual a partir do arquivo .tar.gz . Se você tentou usar o apt-get e perdeu o xinetd, reinstale-o.

Obrigado pela ajuda de vocês, mais ainda não consegui resolver o problema.
O xinetd esta instalado normalmente e o caminho informado pelo script é o mesmo que esta no sitema, DAppel em relação ao tipo de instalação li reli e reli mais de 10 vezes a materia e acompanhei exatamente como estava e sempre ocasionou o mesmo erro.
Tentei então fazer sozinho acompanhando passo a passo e também não consegui, por falta de tempo não pude estar me adentrando mais e fuçando um pouco para conseguir fazer funcionar. Mas agradeço por momento as soluções que opnarão e caso venha a ter novas sugestões ou soluções agradeço.
