Desculpa a demora. :-)

Naquele dia, em outro tópico, um rapaz conseguiu complicar tarefas simples: pedíamos uma coisa e ele fazia outra, copiava o comando errado, etc. Por isso falei com o Izaias quando você copiou o Xorg.1.log. :-P

Estou sem tempo agora, mas voltarei a ver o tópico com calma. ;-)

O Knoppix é uma distribuição Linux famosa pelo bom reconhecimento de hardware. Você poderia tentar instalar só para termos certeza de que isso é problema do Ubuntu especificamente?

Olá,

Inicialmente desculpe a demora mas meu filho operou de emergencia mas já está tudo bem.

Vou aceitar sua sugestão e já estou baixando o Knoppix! Prefiro o Ubuntu pelo suporte a portugues, facilidade de uso (principalemnte para poucos experientes) e imensa comunidade de usuários, o que facilita tudo.

Vai aqui uma pergunta, e me desculpem se for errada: após instalar o Knoppix e se ele reconhecer todo o hardware do Vaio eu não posso copiar os principais arquivos de configuração (que vcs me ajudariam a dizer quais) e depois usá-los de alguma forma no Ubuntu?

Uma outra coisa que esqueci de comentar é que quando instalo o Ubuntu no VirtualBox ele funciona normalmente sem a necessidade do monitor externo.

Ola,

Infelizmente aconteceu a mesma coisa que no Ubuntu.... So rodo o Knoppix com o Monitor Externo. Com o display do Note nao vai de
jeito nenhum.

Nao acredito que ninguem que tenha um Vaio tenha conseguido instalar o Ubuntu, ou qualquer outro Linux nele!!!!

Ainda tentando sem desistir....

qual o chipset da sua placa de video? da um lspci no terminal e posta aqui.

Olá,

Ainda sem desistir e como tive de passar os dias de carnaval em casa, resolvi fazer experiências.

Instalei as seguintes versões:

a) Ubuntu versão 9.04 sem nenhum problema de monitor, seja do Notebook ou externo.
b) Ubuntu versão 9.10 só com monitor externo.
c) Ubuntu versão 10.04 só com monitor externo.
d) Ubuntu versão 10.10 só com monitor externo.
e) Ubuntu versão 11.04 Alpha sem nenhum problema de monitor, seja do Notebook ou externo.
f) Knoppix versão 6.4 só com monitor externo.

Desta forma, podemos chegar a alguma conclusão? Será por questões da versão do kernel?

Sérgio,

Interessante os testes que você fez, eles comprovam o que alguns linuxers vêm reclamando sobre o Ubuntu: lançar tantas versões (com mudanças radicais) em prazos tão curtos, acarreta problemas que antes não existiam.

Quanto ao problema, talvez tenha alguma relação com a resolução do monitor, você já tentou alterar a resolução usando o xrandr por exemplo?

Vou seguir os links e fazer mais esta tentativa, mas estou quase convencido a usar o 9.04 até que lancem o 11.04 Você acha que a versão 9.04 é muito diferente da 10.10?
Uma dúvida: eu posso atualizar o kernel da versão 9.04, acho que é 6.35...para 0 6.37..?
