Aumentar resolução gráfica do Ubuntu 12.04

Olá pessoal,

Fiz algum progresso quanto ao "sudo Xorg -configure" daquele tópico antes mencionado.
Consegui gerar o arquivo xorg.conf.new, entrando como root em tty1, e dando os seguintes:

$ sudo service lightdm stop

$ sudo Xorg -configure

$ sudo service lightdm restart

Assim consegui gerar o referido arquivo na path /home/root/ e fiz uma alteração na Section "Device", na linha Driver para sisimedia, o driver que baixei e salvei em /usr/lib/xorg/modules/drivers como referido no tópico mencionado:

Mas ainda não deu certo, salvei o novo arquivo em /etc/X11/ como xorg.conf.failsafe, reiniciei a máquina e a resolução continuou a mesma: 1024x768. Problema ainda não resolvido.

Por favor, deem uma olhada no novo xorg.conf.new e se perceberem que está faltando alguma coisa que poderia resolver o problema, comentem:

uma possibilidade era vc instalar o archlinux e depois instalar os pacotes sis-ctl e sis-dri
