glibc e oracle no ubuntu

Seguinte:
Preciso instalar uma ferramenta do Oracle (Developer Suite 10g) numa máquina Ubuntu 8.04. É máquina cliente, mesmo!!!

Baixei os 2 cds de isntalação. No site, diz pra rodar o arquivo runinstaller. Aí começam os problemas... Tem 2: um no raiz do CD e outro em install/linux. O do raiz dá um erro de sintaxe pois parece que só roda em RedHat. O outro roda, mas dá esse erro abaixo. O que eu posso fazer pra solucionar (já instalei o rpm mas não resolveu)???

Pelo que consegui pesquisar na web, a glibc, no debian e seus derivados (caso do ubuntu) é chamada de libc6. Acontece que não sei como fazer pra o instalador enxergar com esse nome. No /lib tem um diretório chamado libc-2.7.so e um link simbólico pra ele chamado libc.so.6. Só sei dizer isso... Mais nada...
Será o caso de criar algum link? Se sim, onde?
