placa de video não instala

Boa noite galera,

Seguinte não consigo instalar minha placa de video direito, pois quando instalo fica uma resolução de 640x480,

dados:
ubuntu 9.10 x64
placa geforce 8400 gs

o que eu fiz ate agora:

instalei pelo # envyng -t drive mais recomendado;
comando: #/etc/X11/xorg.conf, nao funciona da permissao negada

gedit /etc/X11/xorg.conf deu esse resultado:

Olha só, também utilizo o Ubuntu 9.10 64bits e também tenho uma 8400. Aqui funciona bem, só que eu instalei a placa pelo Drivers de Hardware.

Recomendo que você tente dessa forma também.

Pois é galera nao consegui ainda...nao deu certo comigo o que vc falou luciano acontece a mesma coisa...mais eu nao desisti ainda
