iptables socket match

Hi,

what is the purpose/use of socket match in iptables.Actually i want to deploy squid tproxy, and from squid tproxy article , i see they are using socket and tproxy match in mangle table.

So what is the use of socket and tproxy match?

Can i see what happening with packet while we are using iptables rules in server?
