Vamos descobrir o que esta errado ai....
1º - O Ubuntu 16 é bem antigo...
2º - Verifique a versão do mawk e do gawk, com o comando:
apt show mawk
Aqui tenho Version: 1.3.3-17+b3
apt show gawk
Aqui tenho: Version: 1:4.1.4+dfsg-1
Poste o valor das variáveis:
str e FNR, as mesmas devem ser:
str: "laranja" (no caso do exemplo, sem aspas)
FNR: "FNR==1||FNR==4" (no caso do exemplo, sem aspas)
Poste o Arquivo que você esta usando.... O equivalente ao do nome das frutas...
O ERRO ocorre pq não esta pegando as variáveis corretamente....
Normalmente a causa é o formato "DOS"...
Verifique se o "arquivo das frutas", está no formato linux!
cat -A ARQ1_dos
#FORMATO DOS, termina com ^M$
