lendo nbanco de dados...60%dpkg: erro fatal irrecuperavel, abortando:
falhou em buffer_read(fd):lista de arquivos do pacote 'libdrm2':é um diretorio
E: sub-process/usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)
um pacote falhou na instalação. Tentando recuperar:

depois de uma atualização corriqueira esta mensagem aparece o tempo todo quando inicio o pc, ele mostra que tem novas atualizações a serem feitas, só que não diz a quantidade de MB a ser baixado, somente mostra que tem pacotes e tenta fazer alguma instalação e não consegue. depois aparece a mensagem postada acima. tenho esse ubuntu ja faz algum tempo, mas não entendo nada de programanção.

Quando esse tipo de erro ocorre faço o seguinte:
abro o synaptic
sudo synaptic
no menu editar > consertar pacotes quebrados.

2-se nao resolver:
Procuro as instalaçoes pendentes e desmrco tudo, sao elas que estao gerando o problema.

3-As vezes precisa mandar aplicar para ver qual a mensagem de erro.
Espero ter ajudado.

Ja fiz tudo o que foi pedido e a mensagem continua a aparecer com as atualizações marcadas novamente para baixar.

Tente isso, no terminal:
sudo dpkg --configure -a
sudo apt-get -f install
sudo apt-get update

Sugiro copiar cada linha e colar, seguido de <enter>.

Faça isto agora: sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get upgrade
Tudo na mesma linha seguido de <enter>.
Note que na primeira vez que aplicou o comando deu erro, isto chama-se erro de sintaxe. Então, se for colocado um comando com espaços entre as palavras, deve ser respeitado. OK?

O Sources.List está ok. O problema, parece-me, está com esse pacote 'libdrm2'. Parece que foi instalado de forma incorreta.
Poste o resultado do comando: sudo dpkg -l | grep -v ^ii
Este comando irá listar os pacotes que não foram instalados ou removidos adequadamente.
