failed to initialize HAL

1. failed to initialize HAL

Olá pessoal!
Estou com 2 problemas a serem resolvidos:

1) Apos atualizar o 7.04 para o 7.10, apos reiniciar e dar boot para o Ubuntu, aparece na area de trabalho "failed to initialize HAL!", o que seria isso ? e

2) Na rede aparece "nenhuma conexão de rede" (apesar de no 7.04 estava configurada, e neste versão com a mesma configuração aparece isso)

Pelo "lspci" está todos os hardwares instalados e nenhum desconhecido.
Como corrigir isso ?
