Caro Anderson,
comigo acontece de ir além do 100%, em razão dos múltiplos núcleos, porém a temperatura era o problema, como tenho monitoramento com o 'cpu sensor', sempre estou atento. Nestes casos, a temp batia na casa dos 80º, o que me chamou a atenção e me preocupou. Após algumas pesquisas, resolvi desabilitar o flashplayer no iceweasel, pelo menu complemento, não fiz teste noutros browsers que tenho (chromiun e vivaldi), mas creio que resolvi a situação. Ainda extrapola os 100%, porém logo retorna ao normal e não gera superaquecimento. (equipamento: acer, i7, 8gbram, debian 8-64b, em SSD), veja a PS:

No meu caso resolvi o problema se superaquecimento. Espero ter ajudado.

Campacci, eu não manjo muito de ambiente, eu baixei o Cinnamon mas parece que ele roda sobre o Gnome. Baixei também o LXDE e fiquei perdido em configurá-lo.
Bom, penso seriamente em baixar outra ISO já com outro ambiente mais leve e reinstalar o sistema. Por enquanto vou pesquisando além deste fórum pra tentar resolver na "unha" e aprender mais, claro.
ivaniuni, já desinstalei o flashplayer non-free e não tive sucesso. Parece mesmo ser algo relacionado ao ambiente gráfico, pois se estiver rodando um vídeo no Youtube, por exemplo, o áudio continua a rodar normalmente independente do modo gráfico ou de texto.
