Criar resolução 1440x900 no
Kurumin:
Abra o terminal, entre como usuário root e digite:
$ kdesu kate /etc/X11/XF86Config-4
E dê enter. Depois é só digitar a configuração "1440x900" em Section "Screen".
É só seguir o exemplo abaixo:
Section "Screen"
Identifier "Screen0"
Device "Card0"
Monitor "Monitor0"
DefaultColorDepth 24
SubSection "Display"
Depth 8
Modes "1440x900" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubSection
SubSection "Display"
Depth 16
Modes "1440x900" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubSection
SubSection "Display"
Depth 24
Modes "1440x900" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"
EndSubSection
E depois salvar e fechar.
E novamente vá no terminal e digite:
$ kdesu kate /etc/X11/xorg.conf
E faça a mesma coisa como exemplo acima. Salve e feche.
Aí é só reiniciar o computador.
OBS: Tenha instalado os drivers da placa de vídeo.
Por segurança você pode fazer uma cópia de backup de seu arquivo
/etc/X11/xorg.conf existente. Aí é só digitar:
$ sudo cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf_backup

Ubuntu:
Primeiro entre como usuário root e depois digite:
# cd /etc/X11/
Em seguida digite:
# nano -w xorg.conf
Depois é só ir em SubSection "Display" e digitar a resolução que deseja. é o mesmo exemplo anterior:

Depois é só só você dar um CTRL+X e responder SIM. E enter, reiniciar o computador.
