forçar resolução no xorg.conf ?

Olá pessoal, estou com dificuldades em aumentar minha resolução que só fica em 1024x768.
Quero pelo menos uma acima dessa.
Estou experimentando o Resulinux(quase igual o kurumin) que possui o kde 3.5, no meu ubuntu consigo a resolução tranquilamente, usando o gnome.

Até estou baixando o gnome pra ver se irá funcionar, já que não gosto do kde.

E o que muda do xorg.conf para o XF86Config ?

É pra forçar para deixar só a tela de login gráfico, ou no geral mesmo?

Se for no geral, Edite a Section Screen
E, mude o que está:
Modes "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"

para algo como:
Modes "1600x1200" "1280x960" "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"

e edicione mais resoluções (que seu sistema "aguenta") à esquerda do 1600x1200.

É geral mesmo, pelo menos esta me serve "1280x960"

Vou fazer os testes e desde já muito obrigado.
