galera nao to conseguindo fazer o kdm iniciar sozinho no slackware 12
tentei seguir esse artigo do 11 mais n deu certo... http://www.vivaolinux.com.br/artigos/verArtigo.php?codigo=5915

Você instalou o Gnome e o GDM está como gerenciador de login?

Veja como está seu /etc/rc.d/rc.4 com o comando:

$ more /etc/rc.d/rc.4

Copie o que mostrar e poste aqui.

Com permissões para root no terminal, você deve editar esse arquivo adicionando um # no começo de cada uma dessas linhas abaixo:

if [ -x /usr/bin/gdm ]; then
exec /usr/bin/gdm -nodaemon
fi

if [ -x /usr/sbin/gdm ]; then
exec /usr/sbin/gdm -nodaemon
fi

De modo que fique dessa forma:

#if [ -x /usr/bin/gdm ]; then
#exec /usr/bin/gdm -nodaemon
#fi

#if [ -x /usr/sbin/gdm ]; then
#exec /usr/sbin/gdm -nodaemon
#fi

Essas linhas são as que definem seu gerenciador de login, comentando essas linhas, que chama o GDM como gerenciador de login, as linha logo abaixo dessas que chamam o KDM será a principal:
