Consegui resolver o problema. Segui os passos abaixo:
ifconfig ra0 172.16.9.18 netmask 255.255.255.252 up
iwconfig ra0 ap 00:02:6F:4D:BC:43
iwconfig ra0 mode managed
iwconfig ra0 key off
rout add default gw 172.16.9.17 dev ra0
depois disso adicionei nameserver 208.67.222.222 e nameserver 208.67.220.220 ao arquivo /etc/resolv.conf
pronto!
minha rede esta configurada!!
