Cartão sd não abre

Olá estou usando o ubuntu 13.10 saucy, mas estou precisando usar a entrada sd.ms/pro.mmc.xd do cartão e simplesmente nada acontece, quando insiro o cartão. Ja segui vários tutoriais como atualizar o com o cartão plugado, tentei vários metodos já instalei várias coisas no pc e continuo sem resolver o problema. Alguém consegue me ajudar?
