Não consigo instalar aplicativos na CENTRAL DE PROGRAMAS DO UBUNTU, o que faço?

Não aparece a opção de instalar, mas sim esta mensagem:

"Disponivel a partir da fonte universe"

O que faço?

Precisa habilitar alguns repositórios.
Poste todo o resultado: cat -n /etc/apt/sources.list

Vá em Canais de Softwares e habilite o repositório "universe". É bem simples.

estou com esse mesmo problema. Já alterei as configurações de software e tentei fazer update, mas sempre o processo se encerra de modo incompleto. Eu fiz o comando das sources no terminal e apareceu essa lista:
