Instalação do Geany versão atual, me ajudem. Uso o Mint 18 Cinnamon

Gostaria de saber como instalar a versão nova da IDE Geany, seguir esses procedimentos:
fui até a pasta do Geany descompactado com o comando cd.
Quado digitei o ./configure obtive esse erro:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:geany-dev/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install geany

Assim que digitei o primeiro comando obtive: 'Esta PPA n\xc3\xa3o suporta xenial'
Não foi possível adicionar o PPA: ''Esta PPA n\xc3\xa3o suporta xenial''.

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install geany
