IP Local não parece ao utilizar ifconfig

Comecei a utilizar o linux mint recentemente e gostaria de saber meu ip local
mas ao utilizar o comando ifconfig eu tenho a seguinte resposta:

Aparentemente é 10.0.0.179

A classe de rede do tipo A 10.0.0.0 é reservada para redes locais.

Eu tentei utilizar esse ip e parece não ter dado certo. Eu preciso descobrir meu ipv4....

A resposta já foi dada, mas, seguem outras opções:

ip addr show wlp2s0|awk '$1=="inet" {printf "Seu IP é:%s\n" ,$2}' 

Ou:

ifconfig wlp2s0|awk '$1=="inet" {print $2}' 

E ainda, mais simples:

hostname -I

Esse endereço é IPV4.
